The Toolbox

Although we are committed to providing custom solutions to our clients, those solutions are not proprietary and are constructed by using proven, open web technologies. We work to design sites that will perform well for years and that can be maintained by the client. Even though we welcome repeat business, we will not develop a solution that can only be expanded by Busy Noggin. If the client chooses, other competent developers can add new functionality to sites originally designed by Busy Noggin.

In our front-end coding we adhere to a standards-based approach keeping a separation between structure (HTML), presentaition (CSS) and behavior (JavaScript). For backend programming we utilitize PHP and MySQL, tremendously popular and stable technologies used in millions of web sites around the world.

In addition to JavaScript, CSS, PHP, and MySQL, one of our tools is TYPO3, an enterprise-level content management system (CMS). The reason we use this CMS is expressed in two words: power and flexibility. It is never a question if something can be done in TYPO3 but only a question of how best to do it.

Once a TYPO3-based Busy Noggin site is launched, content changes can be made directly by the client without special software. Translation: The client does not have to call a web designer every time they need to add a page, change a date or add a photo. Even non-technical users can make changes.

Tens of thousands of websites run on the TYPO3 framework and its administrative interface has been translated into over 40 languages. It can support multiple websites and languages in a single installation. There are thousands of extensions to expand TYPO3's features and it is supported by developers around the world making it a truly international effort.
